Jingle Electric 2018 | The Season’s Hottest Dance-Club Hits! | Revised

Jingle Electric 2018

It’s that time a year again, where Party Favorz delivers one final massive Dance Club set of the latest hits currently on your radar or soon will be.

In keeping with tradition, I like to use a vintage holiday-themed pin-up girl for the artwork of which there appears to be no shortage. Don’t hate on me for using something many would consider sexist. I’m just a big fan of all types of vintage advertisements and especially the ones geared towards gay men, which I find hilarious (given the obvious nature of the ads and the time that they were released).

Jingle Electric 2018 expands on the direction I’ve been moving the Dance-Club series in but takes it even further. Let’s face it, I don’t want to hear a couple of hours of the same-old thinned out female (or male) voices over a drab reggaeton or EDM beat over and over until everything becomes blurred, any more than I want to hear back to back Trap songs that all sound the same. YAWN!

This time around, I’m delivering the hits along with some under the radar tracks that are either independent or on small labels and that don’t necessarily get the exposure they deserve but are seriously worth a spin. I took this further and included tracks that would normally reside on one of my Underground House or Funky Disco House sets to break things up.

Since I typically don’t release these types of sets past November and was sitting on some really solid tracks that I was itching to use, I dropped them in. The end result…is nothing short of FABULOUS!

So, if you’re go-to genre is the Dance-Club series and you haven’t been paying attention to the other two categories, get prepared to get schooled. By dropping a variety of genres in that include commercial dance-club tracks along with some Tech and Funky House, you’re in for a real treat that you never knew you wanted; that is, until now.

You’ll also notice (depending on your age or musical knowledge) that about a 1/3 of the songs are either classics tracks remade or heavily sample them to create something totally new. I was going to list them all for you, but there are really so many, it would take up an entire page to list everything and their origins. Just know, there is a bevy of ’80s and ’90s influences contained herein as well as ’70s and even early millennium. As I’ve always said, what’s old is new again.

There is one group that I do want to put on everyone’s radar (especially if you’re a fan of Indie Rock music like I am) is Bang Bang Romeo, who’s remixed track “Bag Of Bones” is included in this set. The promos showed up in one of my music services and I was just blown away! I checked out a couple of their videos and this group has got the goods. The centerpiece of BBR is powerhouse vocalist Anastasia Walker backed by Ross Cameron (guitars) and Richard Gartland (drums) who provide a true garage experience. The music is sharp, insightful, and well-written and I fully expect bigger things for them when their first full album drops next year. For now, you can pick up their EP on iTunes or stream it on Spotify. I have no relation with this group, their label or their management. I just love to promote damn good music.

I want to give a HUGE shout out to Lynn H, Glenn A., Mike M., Gene R., and especially Anthony S. for their generous donations. You are all very much appreciated!

With all that said, I’m in the process of putting together this year’s final Circuit Tribal House set for the annual Holiday Edition. Expect that to drop sometime next week before I start rolling out the Year In Dance for 2018 featuring the year’s biggest dance club hits! As you can see, we still have a long way to go and this year ain’t even over yet.

Until the next time…ENJOY!

After being stuck in traffic earlier for hours and having the opportunity to really preview this set, I decided to go back and make some edits. A total of five songs have been removed from the original post; 4 were outstanding funky house tracks that ruined the flow and will be saved for a later day and the 5th was the horrendous rendition of the Laura Branigan classic “Self Control.” How that ever slipped passed my radar is dumbfounding, because the overall production is terrible and the vocalist has no business singing ANY Laura Branigan track whatsoever. That is no way to honor the memory of one of pop’s finest from the ’80s with a poorly-rendered karaoke version.

HW18 | Top Dance Club Hits to Quench Your Thirst!

Halloween 2018

Halloween 2018I decided to go ahead and drop this year’s HW18 early, which features the top Dance and Club hits that you’re already hearing or will soon.

In keeping with the changes I have been slowly implementing to keep things fresh, I’ve also thrown in some amazing tracks from small independent labels that do not have the resources to widely promote their artists. There truly is some great music being produced by these various labels and worthy of inclusion.

In addition, whenever I come across an old pop hit or dance track that’s been remixed for today’s floors, I like to throw those in as an added bonus. Australia’s Leo Frappier under the Division 4 moniker is quite possibly the best at this but there are definitely others. No point in mentioning the tracks; you’ll know them the minute you hear them, even if the title doesn’t match up.

ADS IN PODCASTS

You may have noticed ads popping up again in my podcasts. This is coming directly from Podbean and I just emailed them this morning demanding answers. Adding ads has always been an option for me but I chose not to because nobody listens to them, they provide a bad user experience, and frequently the ads have no added value to my followers. I’m really pretty pissed at the moment and waiting for whatever bullshit response they send back to me before I make any drastic decisions.

PAYPAL, CREDIT CARDS & OTHER OPTIONS FOR DONATING

I’ve also gotten a couple of calls to add back the credit card option for processing payments. PayPal used to do this but it appears now they force you into having an account with them. To be honest, I recently got fucked so hard by PayPal, I’m going to have to take them to court. Sadly, as part of their user agreement, I will be forced into arbitration using their own arbitrators by whatever court I file with. It’s part of their user agreement that ALL companies are beginning to implement to prevent class action lawsuits.

PayPal first added up to $300 into my account that apparently, they were taking from my checking account without any notice. The issue is that my bank was refusing those withdrawals and had just performed a complete overhaul of their app and website requiring new more difficult passwords. I was locked out for over a month before this was straightened out. I assumed these were donations but they were not. Two weeks later, PayPal shows that the withdrawals were rejected by my bank showing a negative balance on my PayPal account.

Once I finally gained access to my bank account, I saw where PayPal was running these transactions day after day, sometimes twice in the same day. Needless to say, I was furious. I had to deposit $3,000 in account loaned to me by my mother to cover all my payments being rejected due to PayPal’s relentless and punitive attacks on my checking account.

Once straightened out, PayPal took out the balance from my account but it never showed up in PayPal nor in my online bank ledger, which is really good at showing pending transactions immediately, but for some reason never appeared. These transactions were not in my bank nor in PayPal. I sent the money to PayPal to cover the costs but not only had they already received the money but they got it again from me.

To add insult to injury, a week later and despite already having received the money they erroneously put into my PayPal account, they took out another $200 from my checking account for absolutely no reason at all. It took well over a week to have those funds available in my PayPal account so I could transfer them back to my checking account.

To this date, I have incurred over $1,200 in NSF charges on my checking account. After spending countless hours on the phone with them, they sent me an email stating that they do not refund NSF charges even when it’s clearly their fault. WHAT. THE. FUCK!

At this point, my checking account is in the hole and I’ll be skipping a car payment this month. I still use PayPal because my options are limited for donations. I’m working on re-adding the Give donation plugin I had used a couple of years ago that accepts PayPal and Stripe credit card payments as at least one of you had some issues with PayPal as well and refuses to use them. I fully understand.

Given my current situation, I could really use the help. Either the PayPal option or Stripe (which accepts credit cards) will be available to use on the site by tomorrow, which cost me another $79. I hope everyone can appreciate my predicament and I will do my best to recoup my losses from PayPal by paying the $50 fee to have my case heard in court. Since it’s considered small claims, I’ll be representing myself. I may even present it to Judge Judy to see if they will hear the case on national TV because I seriously doubt PayPal wants that kind of attention. Since there is a forced arbitration component, I’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, with no job prospects, I’ll continue to add new content to the site that I hope you enjoy. For now, have fun with the latest set of EDM, Dance and Club hits…until then next time…ENJOY!

Summer Farewell 2018 pt. 1 | Dance Club Hits to Close Out the Summer

Summer Farewell Dance Club

Summer Farewell Dance ClubAs the nights and mornings begin to cool down in the waning days of summer, there always appears to be a slew of new releases that make us yearn for the lazy days of the season. Summer Farewell pt. 1 captures the essence of the 2018 season with some of the finest dance-club hits receiving a late release.

Party Favorz has collected these outstanding tracks and stitched them all together in one giant non-stop release guaranteed to get you ready for school. In fact, after previewing the entire set, I can honestly say there is only one song I really didn’t care for but shall remain unnamed so as not to offend the artist.

We have massive releases from the Chainsmokers, Martin Garrix and Khalid, Post Malone, Kygo and Miguel, Justin Bieber (with guest stars), Marshmello, Calvin Harris and Sam Smith, Tiesto, Seeb, Selena Gomez, Janet Jackson, as well as a bevy of newcomers like the Rua amongst others.

In short, I packed this set in with a variety of EDM, Dance, House, and Tropical to keep it varied.

You may even notice the track “Rise” by Lisette Melendez. Yes, it’s the “Together Forever” artist from the 90’s who sounds just as fresh today as when she was riding the freestyle trend back in the day. There’s even a fantastic EDM remix of the song but I decided to go with the old school remix that frankly deserves a comeback just on the strength of that alone.

Overall, I think you’ll want for not and this set should keep listeners busy for a long time as it clocks in at over 2 1/2 hours.

In an effort to complete this Summer Farewell series, I’ll be working on a Funky Disco House set shortly and hope to have it out before the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend coming up.

Until then…ENJOY!

Beach Party 2018 pt. 2 | More Smoldering Summer Dance Club Tracks!

Beach Party pt

Beach Party pt

As promised, Party Favorz is back with even more smoldering summer dance club tracks! We pick the hits, so you don’t have to hunt for them on Spotify.

Okay, that may be an overstatement, but we (meaning I) do my best to ensure you’re getting the latest and greatest along with upcoming club tracks that are hitting my radar and wrapping them up in one tight continuous dance set. After all, who wants a bunch of random radio edits that fade in out? You can listen to the radio for free for that.

Beach Party 2018 part 2 takes on a whole new direction in that not only did I include a multitude of current and upcoming hits but picked up some fun disco and house classics that have been reworked for today’s dancefloor. It definitely keeps things interesting.

For instance, KC & the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight” has been entirely revamped and is currently blowing up just about every chart I’ve seen and rightfully so. Though it’s a tad bit overcompressed (beyond my control), the disco original explodes with synths and heavy bass making it a perfect staple for a new generation.

Equally, Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” get’s an overhaul with Softmal’s “I Believe In Miracles,” which creates a sense of relevance and fun for today’s listeners while keeping bouncy playfulness of the original nearly intact. There are many others included here that go by different names, but you’ll instantly recognize them once the chorus hits.

Other tracks that I’ve been all over include AuRa and Camelphat’s “Panic Room” and Sofi Tukker’s playful disco-infused “Batshit” courtesy of Purple Disco Machine. With new tracks from P!nk, Sultan + Shepard, Vassy, Jonas Blue, Ariana Grande, Troy Sivan and the song of the summer “I Like It” by Cardi B; it’s almost like Christmas in summer.

If you’re looking for the amazing new Robyn track “Missing U” sorrow because the official remixes are not out yet other than a couple of bootlegs that don’t come close to doing this fantastic track justice. Be patient.

I’ll be back tomorrow with Summer Edition 2018 for those of you that are into DIVAS and BIG tribal beats. Until then…ENJOY!

Beach Party 2018 pt. 1 | Hottest Dance Club Hits of the Summer!

Beach House pt

Beach House ptAs the days continue to fry our brains and as we melt in the extreme heat and humidity that keeps inching up year after year, Party Favorz is finally back with part one of the 2018 edition of Beach Party; These are the hottest songs of the summer that are guaranteed to make you wanna move.

Due to the structure of the set where it cools down towards the end, I decided to break it off and created a part two to this, which I’ll drop tomorrow. While both sets are equally good, I’d give part two a slight edge, but I’ll let you folks decide.

Since I’ve been gone for most of July, you’ll also be getting the Summer Edition before the weekend is over. All the sets are in the can, and I’ll start working on a brand-new Underground House set featuring some of the most slamming Tech and House tracks at the moment for release next week. I’m just trying to make up for my absence, so these are gonna be coming at you in rapid succession.

D M M | Dance Music For the Masses

Dance Music For the Masses

Dance Music For the MassesI know I had previously indicated that I had blown my wad for a while but apparently I had one last shot I needed to unload. There really was a substantial amount of EDM, Dance and Club tracks I needed to pull together and get out into the world.

Hence we’ve got D M M [Dance Music For the Masses], which is a massive set of current dance-club favorites. This is the perfect companion piece the recently released Spring Break 2018.

Between now and mid-May I don’t really have anything on my plate. I may eek out another Trash Disco set but that’s a big maybe. I’ve about worn out all the Diva Hall of Fame entries for the moment though there are several worth updating because of new releases like Selena Gomez, P!nk, Katy Perry, and Kelly Clarkson and if I did, it would only be to add one or two additional new tracks. So, I’m not sure if it’s worth it. Don’t even ask for Taylor Swift because I don’t want to get sued as her legal team is very litigious otherwise, I would. She certainly belongs in there but I would need assurances in writing from her that they wouldn’t go after me and that’s not going to happen. Many have asked about Amber but that’s also not going to happen as she and I had a very public falling out many years ago.

I suppose there are several Legacy tributes I’d like to take on like Coldplay or even OneRepublic; basically, artists who I am a big fan of and have a stealthy back-catalog of dance hits. Feel free to throw any suggestions my way. I take everything into consideration.

Otherwise, the next Gay Days and the 2018 Catch-up are the only things on my radar. I’ll be in Dallas the first week of June for a small family gathering to bury my father’s ashes so that may delay this year’s Gay Pride sets but once again, I’ll play it by ear.

Truth be told, I’ve been so productive this year and people are only now catching up with my releases, I think there is more than enough to keep everybody occupied as I’m certainly not the only podcast you listen to anyway.

D M M is a massive 2 1/2 hour set and I’ve listened to it multiple times to ensure there were no errors during the export process. I mixed up the genres as best I could to hopefully keep it interesting. I am currently looking at other DJ promo services and there is one that’s caught my eye that I may sign up for because of the combination of mainstream, bootlegs, and mashups that I’m not seeing anywhere else. I’ll decide in May.

In the meantime, I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and as always…ENJOY!

Top Dance Club Hits March | Spring Break 2018

Top Dance Club Hits March

Top Dance Club Hits MarchI’m dropping the Spring Break 2018 set a week early due to familial issues back in Texas, which I’ll get to in just a moment. This set is compiled of the current top dance club hits or those that will soon be. As usual, Party Favorz is way ahead of the curb in the latest dance hits before they come onto your radar.

In fact, I’ve caught on to a trend that’s been consistent for a long while now. The Circuit Tribal House and EDM Dance Club sets I put out generates a lot of heat on initial release. This is from what I call the early adopters. Three months later, these very same sets explode even more as folks become more familiar with the songs. A good example is the Holiday Edition 2017 had been riding high for the past couple of weeks. That was released in December. I wade through hundreds of submissions from labels, DJ’s and charts for each compilation every month. I then research and compile the tracks I think will click with users. I throw in a few things that I know won’t but I’m really digging as the DJ’s pick. I’m not always right but overall I have a pretty damn good track record [pat on the back]. Don’t be surprised to see this set ride up the “Popular” list and then quickly drop down and then reemerge in June again at the top. It happens all the time.

Since I’m going to be out of the loop for awhile, I want to send out a friendly reminder that I’m trying to raise $183 for the website hosting that renews on April 12th. Currently, we are now at $96.00 with only $86 more to go. The way I see it is that the average number of downloads per episode over the past 12 months is approximately 1,000 users. Some are more than others but that’s the average. If just a quarter of you donated $1.00 towards my efforts for providing you with downtime pleasure I could easily make this up without the hassle of begging. That is, I would clear about .80 cents after PayPal gets their cut. I know we can do this. Once again, I’d to thank Ludovic D. (who has been more than generous this year) and Ignacio G. for their contributions. Please consider donating here.

In other news, my father is currently in in-house hospice care. He’s not expected to make it through the weekend. My mother has already made arrangements to move from Houston to the Dallas suburbs to be closer to my sister at the end of April. There will be two services for my father and I’m hoping to attend the second in Dallas so I can see my nephews and niece at that time. My mother wants to have his ashes sent from Houston to Dallas so they can bury him there. My father is my best friend and I’ve already missed our Sunday conversations as he spews his FOX news talking points and I counter with my liberal positions. This is a hard one for me and I’m not sure how I’ll handle it. Sometimes, I just dig into my work to provide a distraction.

I’ve already compiled the tracks for the next Underground House set and may just work on it shortly to have it ready as a stop-gap later in April. I just know I have to walk away for awhile but I will be back so don’t freak out.

There’s a lot going on this weekend with the March for Our Lives in DC headed by some very aggressively smart kids. If you live in the area, please get out and support them if you can. It’s time to take back our country. This is going to be followed up by a “60 Minutes” interview with Stormy Daniels on Sunday. I won’t go into the lurid details as this has been all over the news recently unless you watch FOX, in which case they don’t report the news only propaganda to satisfy those who choose live in their own non-reality based bubble.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and enjoys their Spring Break whether it’s this weekend or next. Living close to South Padre Island, I always had a great time during Spring Break, though I won’t go into my escapades as I was a wild child unleashed. The stories I could tell. I’ll be back soon enough. Until then…ENJOY!

Winter EDM Sessions | Thaw Out to the Latest Dance Club Hits

Winter EDM Sessions

Winter EDM SessionsHoly Cow! Dance Club music is FINALLY transitioning back to its original purpose with some of the most fantastic tracks pouring out. It became readily clear to me when I was mixing Candy Crush in January that the music selection is abnormally good for this time of year and has continued the trend with Winter EDM Sessions. I can’t really explain it other than the amount of diversity in releases and genres, spot-on vocals and generally toe-tapping, finger-snapping, booty-shaking ear candy that I can blare through my car speakers while going 70 mph down highway 85 (not recommended for inexperienced drivers and those averse to getting ticketed). Then again, it helps when spring arrives early and many of the songs lend themselves to top contenders for summer hits.

Speaking of summer, Tom Keller’s “Everybody Knows My Name” was released in mid-December of last year. I immediately fell in love with the song but felt the summer vibes were not a good fit for its early release, so I sat on it. There are a wide variety of mixes included with the release. I relented and used the Felipe Angel big room remix on the Winter Edition pt. 1 in January and am now pushing the original version in this set. Why? Because I really believe in this track and think it has the potential to be a summer-sleeper hit. I’ve also scheduled the Chat Noir remix for the upcoming chill set I’ve got planned. You can stream these tracks now on Spotify. The minute you hear the jangly guitar, you’re gonna be hooked!

This entire set is packed (literally) with a ton of floor scorchers. Some are currently climbing Billboard’s Club Dance chart, while others are waiting their turn. Azure’s “Too Late” and Dua Lipa’s latest “IDGAF” go hand in hand and are modern-day versions of “I Will Survive.” Keala Settle’s “This Is Me” is an empowering track from the musical “The Greatest Showman” while Rita Ora’s “Anywhere” is yet another gem from the gifted singer who frankly is getting the shaft at Top 40 despite her knack for working with stellar DJ’s, writers and producers and impeccable vocals.

Zedd’s “The Middle” needs no introduction because it’s already blowing up everywhere. Dominique Young Unique’s “Karate” is one to watch. The Hoxton Whores deliver a fresh mainstream tech-house remix that fit well with her fast sexy delivery. 90’s alternative hero Beck is back with the summer jam “Up All Night” in what is quite possibly his most accessible track in a while. The feelgood nature of the song will have you up on your feet the minute he dips into the verse.

Troye Sivan’s latest “My My My” gets the Barry Harris treatment and what a stellar remix! Once again, it’s got summer written all over it as Harris turns it into an uplifting house track. Speaking of Barry Harris; He practically saved Justin Timberlake’s “Filthy” with his dirty grunge trap mix making you forget this is basically Sexy Back part two. Party Favorz is a huge fan of Justin but it’s time for him to branch out. Perhaps some new production partners? I’m not the only one saying it so don’t hate on me.

Finally, the next Billboard number one is going to come from Basstoy (a.k.a. Mark Pichiotti) and the rework of his 1999 hit “Runnin” with Dana Divine. We’ve got the slamming Dave Aude “2014” remix here but be on the lookout for the super HOT MSC remix as well. I see even bigger things for this song the second time around.

Finally, the Winter EDM Sessions feels more like a Spring Break mix than some meandering dark semi-hit set from recent past. Given the current political climate, maybe that’s just what we need to unwind. I’ve noticed that Disco Dust which was released in November has consistently remained in the top ten on this site, which indicates to me a lot of you have an itch. The good news is that I’ll be back next week to scratch it [grin]. Until then…ENJOY!

Candy Crush | HOT Electronic Dance Hits of the Winter!

Candy Crush pt. 1

Candy Crush pt. 1Candy Crush is the first electronic dance music set of 2018 and boy oh boy is it a winner! I was dreading the thought of having to slap together another reggaeton set with indistinguishable vocalists but quickly changed my point of view after pouring through 100’s of promos to decide the winners and losers. Once I started putting it together, I knew I had something special with a little bit of something for everyone to keep things interesting.

Charts are used as a jump-off point when putting these commercial dance sets together but most of it is created through intuition and instinct or basically what I’m getting into.

The first time I heard Bruno Mars‘ latest “Finesse” I was all over this shit. From the Cardi B rap to the early 90’s R&B sound that harkens back to BBD (Bel Biv Devoe) to Bruno’s effortless adaptability to virtually everything he tackles, this song is just perfect! In fact, I much prefer it to “Versace on the Floor” which was difficult for me really get into. Because it is so stylistically different, I used it as a transition 2/3 of the way into the set, which worked better than expected. Let’s just say it was gonna be included if it killed me.

Charlie Puth‘s latest “How Long” is a given and comes packed with a wide variety of remixes; many of which you’ll be hearing as the year goes on. Sofi Tukker‘s “Best Friend” is catchy as hell and sticks in your head long after hearing it. Martin Garrix‘s “So Far Away” featuring vocalist Jamie Scott & Romy Dya is quite possibly the best thing he’s put out since his departure from Spinnin. Olivia Holt (another product of the Disney machine) is coming out strong with “Generous” as are the bevy of remixes included in its remix package.

Skylar Stecker continues to impress with “Blame.” Dave Audé gives the song that “French Kiss” touch separating it from his standard remixes that virtually guarantees a number one club hit, while his remix of April Diamond‘s “Lose Control” has serious “Run the World (Girls)” streaming through its veins. So much so, that I’ve already created a mashup which I may release into the wild later on if the song lands in the top spot as I expect it to do.

The remake of the Ultra Naté classic “Free” by Sean Finn, Terri B and Peter Brown has a multitude of remixes that accompanied it but not one of them really offered anything special to the song compared to the original until the KC Anderson remix dropped. This housed-up version without all the tricks and gimmicks finally does justice to the song that’s about to hit the top in a couple of weeks and is something I can sink my teeth into.

Probably the biggest song in this set belongs to a pair called NAATIONS. Their song “Want Me More” grabs my attention like no other. The lyrics are well-written (almost unheard of these days) and accompanied by fantastic vocals by Nicky Routledge with a catchy deep bass sound provided by Nat Dunn. Folks, this is real life music set to a dance beat and I expect bigger things for this duo because they’re doing it better than practically any other major act out there now. My only advice to Nicky; waiting for someone to want you more is a fool’s game. Trust from someone who’s been there.

Good news for my i-whatever users (more than half of my followers). As predicted, I’ve been re-listed in the iTunes store and the link to subscribe is now at the bottom of each player located at the end of every post. Well almost, I’m still swapping out players as we speak but most are there. Google Play will be a bit longer because there is an issue with duplicate feeds I’m trying to have resolved with their support group.

I’ve got a massive part 2 to Sweat on the Floor which moves the original into a peak hour funky deep tech house monster scheduled to drop next Friday. If you were a fan of the first, you’re going to lap this puppy up. I’ve also got a 2-set release of Happy House Classics or what I like to call tunes that will put a smile on your face in these shitty times scheduled for the week after. I also plan on calling out for suggestions to the next Diva Hall of Fame entrant in the coming weeks. Be sure to get your thoughts together on that and scroll through the list of existing famer’s so as not to waste your vote.

Things appear to be thawing out around here making for a fantastic weekend. I hope the same thing is happening for you. Until the next time…ENJOY!

Blow Your Own Horn 2018 | The Ultimate New Year’s Dance Party Mix!

Blow Your Own Horn 2018 1

Blow Your Own Horn 2018 1Blow Your Own Horn 2018 has finally arrived and it’s the ultimate hell-raising dance party mix!

Folks, I’ve busted my ass putting this final set of the year together, which consists of bootlegs, mashups, a lot of bounce interspersed with the familiar as well as brand-spanking-new tunes that will carry into the new year.

There is also a smattering of old classics reworked for today’s dancefloors that are sure to surprise and delight! If this doesn’t raise your temperature and get your blood boiling, then you might want to check for a pulse because it’s likely you’re dead.

Final thoughts on 2017:

Once again, this has proven to be a difficult year in which Party Favorz continues to transition. Granted, I never expected to get 10 years into this yet here I am.

It’s become painfully clear that this podcast poses a problem with my being able to obtain gainful employment. Two of the rejection letters I received cited that my “current interests do not align with the position I was seeking.” They might as well say that my interests don’t align with the culture of their company because it comes across more that way. Frankly, if your company has a Trumpist culture, I don’t really want to work there as I wouldn’t be a good fit. d

Another recent interview was oddly informal and the HR person kept going on about how qualified I was for the position. After receiving yet another rejection email from them, I’m starting to think I may also be over-qualified for the positions I’ve been seeking. In that case, I’m thinking about using a headhunter on Monday to see if my prospects will fare better.

That still leaves open one position I applied for at Home Depot that I am so qualified for and really interested in that it makes my head hurt. I still haven’t heard back from them but I’ll assume the worse case scenario.

This leaves the fate of Party Favorz. Closing the site all together has been weighing heavily on my mind. The amount of time and cost I put into this is enormous and relying on donations just doesn’t come close to covering my monthly (nor yearly) expenses. Continuing the site at the cost of permanent employment is an additional factor in my considerations. Frankly, I am torn.

What started out as a hobby and a passion of mine has turned into a fulltime job and apparently a major liability in my pursuit of self-fulfillment, happiness, and prosperity.

Madonna recently announced she was working on a new album and tour in honor of the 35th anniversary of the self-titled release of her first album. If she’s working on what I’d hope she would do, which is to come full-circle and go back to the fun early 80’s dance-disco infused sound, which is all the rage at the moment, I’d be onboard. Since I don’t know what’s she has planned, I’ve made the decision to go all-in for one more year. It just seems fitting that I tie in the final year of Party Favorz with the anniversary of our much beloved and number one inductee into the Diva Hall of Fame.

That being said, it’s highly likely I’ll shut down the main website for Party Favorz and just run everything off of my host’s platform at Podbean. That address is currently at https://partyfavorz.podbean.com/

I’ll have to go back and hand-code the site to get the look and feel of the current one as best I can, which is more work for me but it will lower my costs dramatically. The negative aspect of it is that it will lower my ranking in Google search as Podbean is a relatively closed environment. If I do this, I will also have no choice but to institute a subscription-based model.

I’ve already blocked the Diva Hall of Fame, Legacy, Gay Pride, and Year in Dance (Top Dance Club Song 2010 – present) sections of the site in anticipation of the move and will be slowly implementing the blocks through the rest of the site through the end of the year. It’s not something I want to do but frankly, I just don’t see any choice in the matter. This will be the only way I can justify wrapping up the site at the same time our favorite DIVA does the same.

I’m sorry but I won’t be able to extend subscriptions to anyone that has substantially donated to my work over the years as Podbean will not allow it. I’ve already made the request and they emphatically said “NO.” They will be handling all download and subscription inquiries for a fee. That takes the most annoying part of running a subscription service out of my hands (which is a good thing).

In the interim, I hope everyone enjoys their upcoming holiday’s with family and friends and is as creative, inventive and diverse in your endeavors. Blow your own horn and follow the path that best suits your individuality.

From my house to yours…HAPPY NEW YEAR’S and as always…ENJOY!

Year In Dance 2017 pt. 3 | The Top Dance Hits of the Year!

Year In Dance 2017 pt 3

Year In Dance 2017 pt 3We’ve reached the end of the 2017 Year In Dance featuring the top dance hits of the year. For those that aren’t familiar with this series, each year Party Favorz compiles what I consider to be the most important dance music songs. Songs that are significant to the current pop and underground culture of dance music with the most influential DJ’s (pro, semi-pro and bedroom) who have had a massive impact on the scene.

While the Year In Dance series began in 2007 when I started this blog, I’ve gone back a decade prior compiling those songs as well. These 3-5 set compilations are fairly comprehensive and I always recommend you store the ones that reflect most prominently in your life. 10 – 20 years from now, you’ll thank me, trust.

Because of the massive amount of content available on Party Favorz, I sometimes randomly pick something old from the current Top 20 just to give it a whirl. I’m a morning person so today I slapped on Time Capsule 2K14 | Volume 1 in my car and jammed to it while waiting for my morning news shows to come on. Even three years back brought great memories and as always, I’m blown away by how good these songs are. So heed my suggestion or totally ignore it; that’s up to you.

In the interim, I’ve been re-working the ultimate year-end dance party mix Blow Your Own Horn to ensure perfection. I’ve got about three versions already and may combine elements from all of them in the final output. Expect that to drop earlier than normal so I can resume a semblance of normality in my life through the end of the year [grin].

I hope everyone has been enjoying this dance music trip through 2017. Judging by the numbers, it appears you have been. I’ll be back in a week or so with the final blow-out of the year. Until then…ENJOY!

Year In Dance 2017 pt. 2 | The Top Dance Hits of the Year!

Year In Dance 2017 pt 2

Year In Dance 2017 pt 2Despite what I may have declared about the state of dance music in my last post, 2017 was not without some fantastic gems. Many of the songs fall into the electronic dance music category but aren’t really dance, rather sweet concoctions that have been remixed to give the originals an added boost and extend their playability. Excellent examples are Dua Lipa’s “Be the One,” Rihanna’s “Love On the Brain,” Flume and Tove Lo’s masterful “Say It,” and a personal favorite “Issues” by Julia Michaels to name a few. The original versions (and many others included in these three sets) of these songs stood strong by themselves but the remixes that accompanied them removed the tone of the original production and gave them an entirely new feeling. In these instances, it’s the DJ’s featured in this series that are equal stars to the artists themselves.

2017 had several noteworthy new artists and time will tell if they’re one-trick pony’s or are truly worthy of their current stature of new-found fame. Leading the pack and certainly the most promising is Dua Lipa who came out of seemingly nowhere after being plucked by Warner Brothers from semi-YouTube fame. She has the full package with the looks, the vocals and, the lyrics to back it all up. She’s got “IT,” and a string of hit singles to back IT up.

Another promising artist that I’ll lay my cards down on is Julia Michaels. While not as massively successful as Miss Lipa, Julia put out one of my favorite songs this year with “Issues.” She also has the full package (a quality severely lacking in many of her contemporaries) and could very well be a slow-burn to the top giving a certain Miss Goulding a run for the money if she doesn’t drop some new material in 2018 [clears throat].

Both Niall Horan (“This Town,” “Slow Hands”) and Camila Cabello (“Crying in the Club,” “Havana”) proved there is life outside of their respective multi-platinum bands and should have pretty strong staying power. However, it’s newcomer’s Cardi B. (“Bodak Yellow”) and Luis Fonsi (“Despacito”) whose first singles were so massive that living up to their success much less maintaining it will prove difficult to overcome. I’m not counting them out, rather routing for their continued success but only time will tell.

Speaking of cheering on an artist; Party Favorz wants to give a shout-out to Kesha who with the release of her first album (“Rainbow”) apart from Dr. Luke has proven several things: 1) She can sing 2) She can write 3) The “Woman” has a great deal of talent beyond spoiled-brat anthems. Just don’t touch her fucking weed. Congratulations on your Grammy nominations for Best Pop Solo Album and Best Pop Solo Performance! “Woman” is sitting at number two on Billboards Dance Club Chart as I write this and will likely finish the year atop that chart. The song has also been included as one of the year’s best.

There is so much to cover in dance music for 2017 but I can’t lay it all down lest you folks get bored. I’ll have my final thoughts and part three of the Year in Dance 2017 out on Friday. Until then…ENJOY!

Year In Dance 2017 pt. 1 | The Top Dance Hits of the Year!

Year In Dance 2017 pt. 1

Year In Dance 2017 pt. 1We’ve finally reached that time of year where Party Favorz reminisces over the best EDM hits of the year. The Year in Dance features the top dance hits of 2017 and as in past years, it’s all compiled by your humble host. I generally put this series together not just based on chart-toppers but look at other criteria as to mainstay with a constant output of bootlegs (usually a good indicator as to how other DJ’s are feeling a particular song) and my own personal choices. I also include songs I don’t particularly care for but were so big, it would be blasphemy to not include them. It’s all subjective as many of you would likely include this, that or another song while removing others.

What I will say is that despite all the varying styles and genres in house music, the entire EDM landscape is stale and has been for the past couple of years. First, it was the commercialization of Deep House where one hit after another chased after the other in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of the first. That started around 2015. Eventually, that evolved into Future House whereas Deep House has gone back into some unknown land of obscure laidback tracks it was once known for.

At the same time, everyone and their dog was trying to capitalize on the Big Room Anthem with the anticipated drop folks would salivate over as if they were at some religious revival. We’re talking Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Alesso, David Guetta, etc. That still goes on but not near as much.

Now, everyone is chasing after that Reggaeton sound popularized by last year’s massive summer hit “Lean On” by Major Lazer & DJ Snake. You hear it in song after song after song. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it’s just generic tripe being pressed through a meat grinder. The beats have definitely gotten slower and the extended plays are more like radio-friendly edits as the attention span of the current generation of house music lovers wanes.

One of my biggest gripes is the lack of talent and vocal abilities of the majority of artists themselves. Even when they are really strong singers, the vocals are so processed and chopped-up and then strung together to get the best parts out of a performance, it often sounds like they’re singing in the shower. Without even watching the YouTube video, I couldn’t tell the difference between say, Halsey, Camila Cabello, Demi Lovato or another hugely popular artist who I won’t mention (because I fear retribution) much less the countless lesser-known wannabes (and there are a lot of those). The thing is, the ladies I just mentioned can sing extraordinarily well but the music formula just doesn’t allow their vocals to shine. There just isn’t any warmth in the music currently being generated. It takes a unique vocalist for me to be able to say that’s this person. Rhianna and Beyoncé come to mind because no matter how processed, they have unique vocal styles that allow us to discern who’s singing.

I’m not here to piss all over the music industry because investment needs a guarantee of return. I get it but long gone are the days when labels would invest in an artist and allow them to grow. Everything demands a quick ROI or they throw the artist under the bus and move on to what they hope will be the next money-generating machine.

The Year In Dance 2017 attempts to weed through all the crap and narrow it down to what I consider to be the best of the best or stuff I enjoy listening to. Sometimes I miss things as it’s as difficult weeding through 200 songs to create one of my sets as it is in creating a Year-end best of compilation. For better or worse, these next three podcasts are my picks for the year’s best dance music. Let me know what you think over the course of the next three sets. ENJOY!

Jingle Electric 2017 pt. 2 | Early Winter’s HOTTEST Dance Hits!

Jingle Electric 2017 pt 2

Jingle Electric 2017 pt 2It does not appear that my host (Podbean) will allow me to manually add supporters as premium subscribers any longer. They used to but have stopped the practice because they now get 15% of whatever is donated in return for providing support for users with issues. That’s on top of the fee charged by Stripe to process the subscription payments. If they come back and say okay this one time, then I’ll move forward but it’s not looking good.

I’ve resigned to the fact that no matter how popular Party Favorz is, there is no way I’ll ever be able to make back the money I put into it without having to continually beg for donations like when my site hosting comes due around April/May. When I shut down Apple Music, Google Play and Tunein it makes it inconvenient for a lot of folks who have supported my efforts and frankly isn’t fair to them. If I block my feed so that shit services like Deezer, PlayerFM and Mixcloud cannot access it then it blocks access to the ones I want it to appear on. Kind of a catch 22 but I’m researching away around it. I’ll make an announcement if I figure that one out.

At this point, I’ve done all I can with this site and don’t see much future beyond 2017. I’m seriously looking for a job but one that pays more than I’m already taking in at the moment, which is why I’m being picky. As for the shitbag at https://www.mixcloud.com/kepatotal/ Mixcloud sent me a takedown notice I have to fill out, which I will do shortly. Diva Hall of Fame and the Legacy sections will remain permanently closed as I assume everyone has already downloaded what they want.

So here’s the Jingle Electric 2017 pt. 2 for everyone’s enjoyment. Even though everything is wrapped up for the year, I plan on sticking to my original release schedule. The Holiday Edition contains one MUST-HAVE song on it that is an early promo but I can’t release the set until the song drops this coming Friday, December 1st. So expect that to go up followed by the Year in Dance 2017 the following week.

I just dropped a couple of tunes into the Blow Your Own Horn 2018 set and smoothed out a couple of transitions, so I plan on getting drunk while previewing it for the rest of the day to ensure there are no other issues. For those that recently donated after my tirade yesterday, send me a message via Facebook if you would like a refund. No questions asked. ENJOY!

Jingle Electric 2017 | Early Winter’s HOTTEST Dance Hits!

Jingle Electric 2017

Jingle Electric 2017It’s time for the annual Jingle Electric jam! This is the final batch of the current and HOTTEST EDM/Dance tracks blowing up at radio and dance floors across the globe.

Over the years I started using vintage holiday artwork for this series. I am a HUGE fan of vintage ads set in a modern era. Granted, a lot of it is misogynist and definitely misleading. I’ve even come across several that are clearly targeted at gay men, which come across a little disturbing while others are hilarious. It’s certainly not what you’d expect given the time they came out because there is no confusing the message they were sending.  One of the ads was for a luxury Buick with an attractive lady in the backseat and a man in a tuxedo appearing to peak in the back door. The headline or selling point is “Enough room for her to spread her legs” I shit you not.

While Party Favorz does not condone this kind of crap, I do have a fascination with attractive women, fashion, etc. So don’t make too big a fuss about the images as it’s meant to be all in good fun and represents a time in the past mixed in with modern-day culture.

You will find several of these tracks re-appear on the Year In Dance coming out in a couple of weeks as well as some big room banger versions on the year-end Blow Your Own Horn. I’ll have the second set out early tomorrow morning for your weekend pleasure. Until then…ENJOY!

HW17 | Top EDM & Dance Hits of the Fall!

HW17

HW17First, the HW17 actually has nothing to do with Halloween. No spooky tunes or effects, just plain ole Top EDM & Dance tunes currently playing or coming to a club near you soon.

As I wind down the site, I wanted to go out with a bang which is why I resigned myself to completing at least one more of these and a Circuit set for the boys (dropping tomorrow).

To be honest, I’ve truly lost interest in doing this, the music is repetitive and boring. When I am truly engaged like with the Spin Me ‘Round set I just released, nobody really likes it. Frankly, I thought it was one of the most exciting sets I’ve put out in a while, mainly because of its diversity and uniqueness but I’ll digress.

At the end of the day, my heart just isn’t into it but I didn’t want to leave things with the Simply Red Legacy set even though that’s moved into the top ten most downloaded and streamed sets I’ve ever put out (go figure).

HW17 was completed in one sitting. I pretty much threw everything in including the kitchen sink to cover all of my bases. I’ve only had a small amount of time to skim it so if there are any errors, let me know and I’ll try to correct them (hopefully not).

That’s all I got for now. Until the next time…ENJOY!

One other thing, there are issues with this podcast that I am aware of. With almost 4,000 downloads no one bothered to bring it to my attention, so I never went back and fixed it. C’est la vie!

Spin Me ‘Round | Underground Party House Mix

Spin Me Round Deep Edition

Spin Me Round Deep EditionSo much for not posting anything this week. I meant to put it up yesterday but I lost track of time.

Spin Me ‘Round is an eclectic mix that pulls from a variety of House Music sub-genres. Literally. I wanted to do something fresh and different but with energy and this is the result.

This is not unlike what I do with the end of the year party set Blow Your Own Horn series but wilder. Don’t get to accustomed to one style of music because it will change on a dime.

These are hard to pull off but the finished product is always worth the price for the time and effort pulling it together. Let me know what you think and if you want more of these.

I’ve got a total re-work of one of the original Diva Series in store for next week. Until then…ENJOY!

Beach Party 2017 | The HOTTEST Dance Hits of the Summer!

Beach Party 2017 pt. 1

Beach Party 2017 pt. 1Just in time for your weekend pleasure, I’m dropping the MASSIVE Beach Party mix that’s bound to fuel your summer celebrations!

This unabashedly commercial set kicks off with the would-be/should-be summertime hit ‘Good Time’ by the former lead singer of the Gap Band, Charlie Wilson. While the original is outstanding in its own right, the Moto Blanco remix adds that extra summer feelgood-ishness that makes you want to get up and DANCE! I just wish there was a full version available but I’ll take whatever I can get because this song is that good.

The overall tone of this mix jumps from one style to another. It features EDM, House, Trap and Reggaeton; basically all the current flavors of the moment.

I have yet again provided an alternate mix to the song of the summer “Despacito”, which has gone on to be the most streamed song like ever. For those of us that grew up during the “Macarena” craze in the 90’s, Despacito is the equivalent. I decided it was worth taking that trip down memory lane, so I’ve also included the awesome remix of Macarena by DJ Belindo, which is guaranteed to put you in the mood.

I have been all over “The Sugar Shack” by would-be country singer Tami. I don’t know much about her but this song has been on my radar for a while now but I haven’t been able to fit it in anywhere. It’s on a meteoric trajectory on the Billboard Club chart so I bit the bullet and managed to work in the catchy re-work by DJ Tracy Young.

Another tune I can’t get enough of is “Don’t Want You Back” by Bakermat featuring the very talented Kiesza. We haven’t heard much from her in a while, but if this is the beginning of things to come; there’s much to look forward to.

Overall, this entire mix smacks with all of your favorites re-worked for the dancefloor. I hope you have as much fun listening to it as I did putting it together.

That’s all I got for today. I’ll be back next week with the darker side of summer. Until then…ENJOY!

Catch-Up 2017 | The BIGGEST Dance Hits of the Year…So Far!

The 2017 Catch Up

The 2017 Catch UpWell, I go my 3-day holiday weekend start off late. Better late than never I suppose.

Regardless, I’m sending up the annual Catch-Up, which is our mid-year set featuring the biggest dance hits of the year so far.

I did my best to pump this set up with differing versions than had been previously used, but in certain cases there just weren’t better options. I threw in a few bootlegs for good measure and what you got is a 2+ hours EDM/Dance party.

Everyone should be lined up nicely for the weekend. We’ve got Disco Nights featuring the freshest funky house as your warm-up; The 2017 Catch-Up as your nighttime party groove and Debbie Does Deep for your peak-hour underground house music pleasure. Of course there is also the 2-volume Gay Days edition, which is an epic tribalicious journey that fuses all of the above. I’d say, no matter your preference, you’re all set for Memorial Day weekend.

I’ll be taking the next couple of weeks off before launching into our GAY PRIDE offerings. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.

Until the next time…ENJOY!

Bangers! | Future EDM Dance Favorites

Bangers 2

Bangers 2Bangers! | Future EDM Dance Favorites is chock full of pre-summer club hits. I had to wade through 200+ songs for consideration when making this and it almost came out to two individual sets but the redundancy in the styles of music coming out these days suggested I keep it down to one and just pick what I thought were the best of the best.

I had two ways I could have taken this: either full-throated powerhouse EDM anthems or the more laid-back reggae-flavored house that has been central to the current music landscape. Since the 2017 Catch-Up is dropping in early June, which features the biggest dance hits of the year so far, I went with the latter. I figured the Catch-Up can be a more upbeat party anthem set similar to the Blow Your Own Horn series I put out at the end of every year.

With temps running in the low to mid 80’s sooner than normal, it won’t be long before we’re hitting the 100+ degree mark. So let’s get the 2017 summer season kicked off because it’s going to be a scorcher. ENJOY!

Rick and I are moving on the 12th so I’ll drop the next DIVA series next week then take a week off and come back with the 2017 Gay Days set. It’s not clear if I’ll be able to squeeze in a Funky House set before the Catch-Up but we’ll just have to see how time permits.

Spring Break 2017 | The Hottest Dance Hits for Your Party Vacation!

Spring Break 2017

Spring Break 2017As it continues to get warmer earlier than usual, it’s pretty safe to say global warming is here to stay. Initially, it feels great to have a shorter winter and pretty much skip spring altogether but as things continue to heat up, we may be changing our tune when it becomes unbearably hot.

For now, I’ve got the HOTTEST tunes for your beach party fun. Think of this set as the warm-up or pool party mix to tomorrow’s latest Deep Edition. Trends in popular dance (formerly EDM) have steadily moved to slower beats with a more tropical feel to them. I can’t see that lasting longer but there are some definite smokers in this set.

Not to blather on too long, it looks like Party Favorz is on a trajectory to be salvaged for yet another year. Since my call to arms yesterday, we are at 53% of goal. So please keep it up and help keep us as your one-stop shop for all things dance.

Until tomorrow …ENJOY!

Winter Dance Sessions 2k17

Dance Sessions Winter 2017

Dance Sessions Winter 2017This week, Party Favorz is going big and I mean really BIG! There is so much fantastic electronic dance music coming out at the moment my computer is bursting at the seams.

We’re gonna kick your weekend off with the first straight up club set of the year. The Winter Dance Sessions features some of the hottest club hits you’re likely grooving to now as well as future hits you’ll be digging into in a couple of months.

I rounded this out with some underground hits that are making a lot of noise that gives everyone a taste of things to come for 2017. I did this set in one take and it was flawless on my first preview. Then more and more hot tracks kept coming out so I dropped in a couple of them and am rushing this out before I muck it up.

Same thing with the Circuit set coming out tomorrow. I gotta stop while I’m ahead LOL.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the Winter Edition for the circuit boys. Until then…ENJOY!

Blow Your Own Horn 2017 | The Ultimate New Year’s Dance Party Mix!

Blow Your Own Horn 2k17

Blow Your Own Horn 2k17Folks, this is it! It’s that time of year that Party Favorz blows the roof off this 2016 motherfucker with our annual Blow Your Own Horn! This is the defacto epic dance party set to bring in your New Year.

This year we lost David Bowie, Prince, George Michael and now Carrie Fisher a.k.a. Princess Leia. It almost feels like my youth has been suddenly ripped out from underneath me. After everyone said it would never happen, we elected an egotistical, self-serving, lying hypocritical, sexists prick to the highest office in the land. Ya’ll said you wanted change; wait cause you’re gonna get it.

It’s also been the year of Russia, Russia, Russia. No offence to the Russians that subscribe to this site (cause I know there is a shitload of you), but I don’t want to see RT show up in my Google feed ANYMORE; I don’t want to read about how Russia hacked into the DNC and floated all this crap to that douche Julian Assange from Wikileaks. One step out of that embassy (if they don’t throw you out first) and your happy ass is going to land here in the US courtesy of the Swiss. Then there’s some Russian fucktard hacking everyone’s Google Analytics account (mine included) with some fucked up pro-Trump message. Not sure what that was about other than being an annoying prick. I can’t even open up the New York Times, Washington Post or Washington Journal without some headline news about Russia. Here’s the real news; Russia, we’re just not that into you.

So, I’ll just let this all wash over me with a new year to look forward. Then again, it’ll likely be the same shit; just a different year LOL.

Hey, I’ll get off my soapbox because it’s looking like an awesome day outside. Besides, I know we have several Trump supporters on here (including my parents) as most are good people. Equally, all the Russian folks that subscribe to Party Favorz, obviously have good taste so we welcome you!

That being said, I want to give a shout-out to these awesome folks for their donations: David B. $50; Michael M. $10 and Charles B. $40. You guys ROCK!

Party Favorz will be taking an extended break for as long as I can stand not mixing anything which usually lasts about 2 weeks before I give in to the urge to slap a couple of songs together LOL.

I hope everyone has a healthy and happy New Year. I’ll see ya’ll sometime in the next.

Until then…ENJOY!

Year in Dance pt. 3 | The Biggest Dance Hits of 2016!

Year in Dance 2016 pt. 3

Year in Dance 2016 pt. 3Even with its seismic shifts, 2016 was a really good year for dance music. Rihanna had a particularly great year with one release after another from her stellar (if not underappreciated) ‘Anti’ album. ‘Work’ and ‘Needed Me’ were standout tracks but her collaboration (again) with Calvin Harris really took the prize. ‘This Is What You Came For’ co-written with Calvin’s ex Taylor Swift is one of the top songs of the year. Much like their work on the 2011 ‘We Found Love’, TIWYCF is one of those songs that hit’s you between the eyes and translates so well to the dance floor.

Justin Bieber was another artist that blew it out in 2016. Already riding high from the 2015 release of ‘Purpose’, his single ‘Sorry’ released late that year was like the song that just kept on giving. Shortly thereafter “Love Yourself’, which was more of a dis to a spurned ex, invoked a re-working of the lyrics by fans (NSFW) at his concerts. But, it was his collaboration with Major Lazer ‘Cold Water’ and DJ Snake of ‘Let Me Love You’ that secured him as one of the top artists of the year. No matter what you may think about the Biebster, the guy is talented and has hooked up with some of the most stellar producers in the industry during this new wave of musical styles.

Arguably the BIGGEST artist of 2016 goes to The Chainsmokers. After their breakthrough ‘#Selfie’ in 2014 with the strong follow-up ‘Kanye’, they released their debut album ‘Boquet’ in late 2015. Spurred by the massive success of ‘Roses’ each subsequent released topped the next. ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ was even bigger but it was ‘Closer’ that sealed the duo as EDM kings with a pop-sensibility the major labels had been creaming their pants for. Sorry Zedd, but these boys beat you to it.

With only one more set to go, we are down to the wire with the biggest dance hits of 2016. I want to thank Gary B. for another $25 donation into our coffers. I also want to thank one of our followers for pointing out the issue with the donation plugin in Firefox. It does work, but the fields are blank until you begin typing in them at which point it reveals what it is you’re supposed to be typing. I’ve created a support ticket with the developers but don’t expect to hear back until after the holiday. In the interim, it may be best to use Chrome, Explorer or Safari but Firefox will work just fine if you don’t mind stumbling through it.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the fourth and final installment of the Year in Dance 2016. Until then…ENJOY!

Year in Dance pt. 2 | The Biggest Dance Hits of 2016!

Year in Dance 2016 pt. 2

Year in Dance 2016 pt. 22016 ushered in a sea-change of musical styles in dance music. While the big anthem is still a guaranteed hit; elements of our past have largely taken over the dance floor. 70’s disco is stronger than ever as Nile Rodgers has exerted his influence into several number one hits. A lot of folks aren’t aware that in addition to fronting the wildly successful 70’s disco band Chic, he had a massive influence in the 80’s producing mega-smashes by Madonna, Diana Ross, David Bowie and Duran Duran to name a few. His expertise was in high demand and considered hot property during the decade. Much like Giorgio Moroder (Donna Summer), he’s proven that what’s old is new once again.

Perhaps the one song from 2015 that completely changed the game was ‘Lean On Me’ by Major Lazer & DJ Snake. The massive summer hit with it’s laid back Reggaeton style and percussion have paved the way for so many of the hits that have run up the 2016 charts in pop as well as dance. For now, the traditional 128 bpm dance track has taken a backseat to an average of 120 bpm that leans more to radio than it does for the dance floor. When creating a non-stop mix; we adjust or get left behind.

The four sets that compile the 2016 Year in Dance reflect that change. It’s all about the slower, slinky beats that borrow heavily from the 70’s and 80’s with commercialized Deep House still remaining strong. As I’ve said time and again, everything is cyclical. At some point, 90’s era house music will make a resurgence but for now, it’s all about the downbeat.

I’ll be back tomorrow with pt. 3 of the Year in Dance. Until then…ENJOY!

Year in Dance pt. 1 | The Biggest Dance Hits of 2016!

Year in Dance 2016 pt. 1

Year in Dance 2016 pt. 1OMFG! Party Favorz has made it through another year of delivering the biggest dance tunes straight to your ears. Even I can’t believe how far this little site has come going into our 10th year. To put things into perspective, we switched from self-managed hosting (which had gotten out of control and financially unmanageable) to managed hosting on December 7th. From that time to now, we have racked up a staggering 8,575 downloads and the month isn’t even over yet. My guess is we’ll be testing the limits of my new hosts ‘unlimited’ data and bandwidth offer in due time.

In the interim, Party Favorz is proud to present our annual Year in Dance (formerly called Time Capsule) which culminates the biggest and best dance tunes of the year that was. Of course, determining the biggest dance tunes of the year is all subjective and based on how your own personal tastes run. We present a wide variety of genres here on the site, so the main focus is on the commercial aspect of dance music when considering which tunes to include.

Since all music is ‘electronic dance music’, you may have noticed we’re in the process of dropping the EDM label and switching it over to a more generic ‘dance’ genre. Beatport can play around with this shit all day long to capitalize on (what they think is) the latest trend but at the end of the day; it’s all the same. Party Favorz offers more overly broad genres so that users have a pretty good idea what they like and can focus just on those categories that only interest them.

This has never been easier for iTunes users. We’ve setup feeds for each category on the site so that you can subscribe to only what you like. For those that love everything, it’s a good way to automatically keep everything organized on your phone or tablet so you don’t have to scroll through the whole feed to find what you’re in the mood for. Each individual feed is linked in the slider at the top of the page and on each category page, making subscribing effortless. For those that don’t use iTunes, just copy the address for each category and submit it to your favorite RSS reader and it will discover the feed automatically.

I want to give a HUGE shout-out to those of you who have continued to support our efforts to make Party Favorz the best damn podcast on the planet. The most recent donations by Gary B. $50; Eric W. $100; Alberto M. $50; Anthony B. $25 and Luis B. $50 have been instrumental in helping the site transition to a new service while keeping our doors open.

I’ll be back tomorrow with pt. 2 of the Year in Dance. Until then…ENJOY!

Jingle Electric 2016 pt. 2 | the Holiday Season’s Biggest Dance Hits!

Jingle Electric 2016 pt. 2

Jingle Electric 2016 pt. 2Updated with minor corrections and the addition of “Don’t Wanna Know (Mark Neo Remix)” by Maroon 5 feat. Kendrick Lamar.

One thing you’ll notice on the two Jingle Electric sets is that the songs are getting shorter and shorter. So much so, they’re pretty much radio edits. This is a trend that started several years ago with Jump Smokers and their shelved remix album for Mariah. This is likely at the behest of the major labels for whatever their reasons.

It does make mixing a challenge, but it’s something I’ve had to contend with previously, just not on this grand of a scale.

Basically, I’m relying on my skills of editing the mixes together much like I did back in the day on two Nakamichi tape decks. I had gotten so damn good at it, folks thought the sets were one continuous mix; a testament to my skills.

Nevertheless,  I may be a bit rusty but overall, I think these sets turned out quite nicely considering the vast BPM range of the songs I was dealing with.

So pop on this current set of the Jingle Electric and be sure to let me know what you think!

I’ll be back next week with the HOT Santa’s and circuit beats for the boys! Until then…ENJOY!

Jingle Electric 2016 pt. 1 | the Holiday Season’s Biggest Dance Hits!

Jingle Electric 2016 pt. 1

Jingle Electric 2016 pt. 1There was a lot of making up to do since I had to skip the Halloween Edition of the Dance/EDM series. Fortunately, I was able to get it cut down to two very concise sets featuring the biggest dance hits of the holiday season and some that will soon be.

I managed to get a free month from Blubrry, my new home for delivering the finest dance music podcast on the planet! That does not mean I still don’t need the help, because I’m always in need of financial assitance for Party Favorz.

In the interim, relish pt. 1 of the 2016 Jingle Electric. Pt. 2 will be up shortly. Until then…ENJOY!

EDM Sessions | Fall 2016

The EDM Sessions Fall 2016

The EDM Sessions Fall 2016As you may be able to tell from the Party Favorz release schedule this week, I’m trying get everybody in the Fall mood by putting out early releases of the three core genres (House, Circuit and EDM) from the site.

The Fall 2016 EDM Sessions completes that trifecta ensuring you have more than enough to fuel the next couple weeks of your leisure time. That being said, let’s get right into it.

We kick things off with a couple of new remixes for earlier hits. Flume’s Never Be Like You was a slow burner through the summer but most of that was due to very poor official remixes on its initial release. Once the bootleggers got on board, great remixes began to appear. I’ve been all over Ariana’s Into You since its release, though I don’t think this did as well at radio as it probably should have but I love it just the same.

Lady GaGa’s Perfect Illusion is what held up the post this morning. To be honest, I don’t think this song is a strong candidate for an initial release off of her forthcoming album. I just can’t get into the original version as there’s nothing there to reel me in. The early mixes fare better and at least provide some muscle behind the track. Regardless, I think this song will struggle to make it into the Billboard Top 10 and will likely sink fast if it’s that lucky. I am not a GaGa hater but I’m keeping the faith that her album will be far better than this initial release.

Barry Harris who is regularly featured in my Circuit sets has been doing some equally stellar remixes that perform better under the EDM genre. They are catchy, upbeat with the same pop sensibility he uses in all of his mixes but without that whole tribalistic feel. For that reason, I’ll start including some of his stuff here instead of the Circuit sets. In this case, his take on the massive Closer by Chainsmokers and his brilliant upbeat version of This Girl by Kings vs. Cookin’ on 3 Burners really shine within the confines of this set.  Personally, I think it’s time the major labels start giving him a serious look because he’s setting the gold standard for what electro-pop-dance should be.

JES is back and in a BIG way. One of the queens of Trance and very well respected DJ in her own right, teams up with Tom Fall in what is certain to be her next number one Billboard club hit. Come Back could be considered exactly that. It’s been several years since her number one remake of the Cure’s Love Song, so we welcome her back into the clubs.

I don’t really follow artists and their ups and downs or disappearances, but it’s apparent Craig David has been M.I.A. for some time now. Well folks, he’s back with the Sigala produced Ain’t Giving Up and his vocals are as pure as ever, while the song is pure catchy-house bliss. If this fails at radio and in the clubs then there is something seriously wrong with programmers.

I’ll finally be taking the two weeks off that I was denied in late August due to circumstances beyond my control. No worries because if subscribers have an issue, be sure to reach out to me through the contact section of the site so I can help resolve any problems you may be experiencing.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and as always …ENJOY!
