For the past 17 years, Party Favorz has been the definitive destination for Gay Pride anthems that have been the backbone of the LGBTQ identity. Overcoming hardship and the hard-won struggles for acceptance, self-esteem, unabashed sexuality, world-weary songs of the heart, and of course our favorite DIVAS have been the core of our relationship to queer dancefloor anthems. Party Favorz serves up a massive helping for the world-weary and activists every year.
We originally focused on Gay Anthem classics of the past, with many being updated in the early millennium, found in the giant multi-part series that was finally released as an anthology in our “Ultimate Gay Anthems & Pride Classics.”
Soon, we shifted our focus to a newer generation of modernized gay anthems for Millennials and Gen Z. Since the majority of the classic songs live on in perpetuity, new generations have latched onto them and added their own twist, bringing these classics into the 21st century. Thus, “Gay Anthems For a New Generation” was born.
Since its inception in 2016, GAFANG has exploded in popularity and become one of the most anticipated releases from Party Favorz every year. This year, we have compiled the definitive compilation of the most beloved Gay Anthems that have been modernized for today’s dancefloors. There are multiple new entries from past efforts and many more new queer artists making their mark in this genre for the first time. We are very excited about this upcoming release and are positive you will be as well.
We also plan on dropping our annual “Pride Edition” for 2024, filled with the latest circuit anthems and Gay Pride classics for those that enjoy their pride celebrations with big tribal beats.
In other news, I have to say that running Party Favorz has been the ultimate joy of my life, but we’re running deep in the red, and I’ve got an American Express card with heavy debt to prove it. Ever since the decision was made to make the podcast freely available to everyone, there’s been a massive hole in contributions to support our work. If anything, that support helps cover at a minimum (because it varies widely) $200 a month in expenses, and I just cannot do it anymore. We are in desperate need of small $5 monthly donations to keep our doors open through the end of the year. If I cannot right this ship by the end of June, I will have no other choice but to say goodbye earlier than I wanted. I have my own expenses and cannot afford to carry this podcast by myself any longer.
I despise asking for money, but I thought I’d make one last plea to keep the party going at least through the end of the year. Party Favorz started at the end of the Bush administration, and I’d like to end with the Biden administration.
Over the past 17 years, we’ve experienced significant changes—not only in music but also in technology, presidential leadership, and the hard-won rights of the LGBTQ community, which are now at risk. These events are all part of the history that Party Favorz leaves behind. Throughout it all, Party Favorz has been here with you. I hope we can continue through the end of 2024, but if not, I will say my goodbyes and gracefully walk away.
That being said, I’ve already planned out June. At the very least, y’all will get your summer off to a really good start.
