Where Things Stand — and What Comes Next with Party Favorz

Keep the party going—share this mix!

Hey everyone,

I just spent the past week in the hospital with sepsis — and let me tell you, it was a nightmare. Between the day and night terrors, I saw things so vivid and bizarre it’s almost impressive what the human brain can drag out of your childhood to torment you.

As for the hospital itself, I’ll spare the gritty details, but the experience left a mark — and not in a good way. This was my second run-in with sepsis during the course of Party Favorz, and the contrast between this stay and the first couldn’t be more different.

My official diagnosis is Pyoderma Gangrenosum, a rare, non-infectious inflammatory skin disease that causes painful ulcers with no known cure. From what I can tell, this might’ve been the culprit all along. The frustrating part is that my leg had been healing well — almost completely, in fact — until out of nowhere, new sores appeared and suddenly walking became difficult again.

There’s still a lot I don’t understand, but I’m back under the care of my at-home wound specialist, Aimee, who’s been through her own battle with sepsis and shares my distrust of that hospital. She’s pushing for a referral to a dermatologist who specializes in this disease. Apparently, the hospital never cultured my wound properly — or if they did, those results never came back before I checked myself out of that hellhole.

Next up is outpatient surgery to remove dead tissue, which should spare me another round of brutal manual debridement. There’s also another outpatient procedure planned, but that one’s being held off until next year because, honestly, I’m not in any condition to handle it right now.

For now, I’ve got Aimee once a week, a nurse twice a week to change dressings, and soon, in-home physical therapy. It’s a lot to juggle — pain management, appointments, the constant disruption — but I’ll make it work. Somehow, I always do.

Financially, though, things are grim. We’re already $18,000 in the hole, and while we’ve managed to pay off the hospital, that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt — deeply. We’re drained but still pushing forward. And that brings me to Party Favorz.

I hate — no, I despise — asking for money, but the truth is, I can’t keep financing this podcast out of pocket. That’s never been sustainable, and it’s why I created the donation portal in the first place — so the community that enjoys our podcast could help keep it alive.

Here’s the thing: if even a quarter of our listeners gave just $1 a month, we’d cover our costs with room to spare — around $5,000 monthly. Sadly, we’re nowhere near that. Realistically, I’m just trying to raise enough to cover $350 a month in expenses, which grows to about $6,000 a year once hosting and DJ service fees are factored in.

Despite everything I’m dealing with, I’m determined to see this year through. Come hell or high water, Party Favorz will finish out 2025 strong — with the Throwback series already in the works and our annual Jingle Electric mix lined up next. Whether we make it to 2026 depends on you. If people have moved on, I’ll accept that and bow out gracefully. But if this podcast still means something to you — if it’s been part of your weekends, workouts, or memories — then please consider helping us stay alive.

I’m asking for $5 a month — that’s it. If your card expired or changed, check your account and renew your donation. Every dollar counts, and those of you who’ve stuck with me — month after month or even with a one-time gift — I see you, I thank you, and I couldn’t have come this far without you. You’re the reason Party Favorz still exists.

Truthfully, this show is all I have besides my husband, Rick, who’s as patient and stubborn as ever. Employers decided long ago they wouldn’t hire someone like me, so I’ve poured everything I have into this podcast — my energy, my passion, my sanity. Losing it now would feel like losing myself.

So, I’ll keep fighting — against the pain, the debt, the fatigue — because Party Favorz deserves a proper legacy. But I can’t do it alone. If you’ve ever danced, smiled, or reminisced because of one of our sets, then please, help keep the party going — even if just another year.

I’ll try to be back this weekend with new releases. If there’s a delay, don’t panic — it just means life threw another wrench in the mix. One way or another, those sets will come.

Until the next time… ENJOY!
