Party Favorz™ officially launched as a dance music podcast in 2007, but its identity began taking shape years earlier in the gay club and after-hours scene of South Texas. Created by Keith (aka K j A M), the project grew from custom mix CDs shared among local partygoers into a global digital archive spanning House, Disco, EDM, Circuit Anthems, Gay Anthems, and decades of dance classics.
What began as a personal creative outlet became a long-running record of dance music history, connecting underground club culture with the songs, artists, producers, remixers, and DJs who crossed into the mainstream.

The Origin: 1999–2006
The name “Party Favorz” began as a tongue-in-cheek play on words within the late-90s club culture of South Texas. At the time, nightlife often shifted away from the bars after midnight and continued at private homes, warehouses, and other informal gathering spaces.
While DJing at local gay bars and events, Keith began creating custom mix CDs specifically for these after-hours parties. People attending the gatherings would ask whether he had brought any “party favorz.” Although the phrase usually carried a different meaning in nightlife circles, it became shorthand for Keith’s mixes.
The name stuck. Before long, the discs were labeled Party Favorz: Volume 1, Volume 2, and so on. Those early mixes laid the foundation for the series that would eventually move online.
The 2007 Pivot: Microsoft to Blogger
In mid-2007, Keith was furloughed from a management position at AT&T. During his job search, he applied for a role at Microsoft that required candidates to build a blog using Microsoft Live Spaces.
Although the job did not work out, the assignment introduced him to online publishing and sparked an unexpected creative interest. Encouraged by friends, Keith moved the project to Google’s Blogger platform in August 2007, officially launching the Party Favorz blog and podcast.
The transition from physical CDs to downloadable mixes allowed Party Favorz to reach listeners far beyond South Texas. It also gave Keith the freedom to organize releases by genre, era, and audience.
The DIY Era: 2008–2009
To turn the blog into a more professional dance music archive, Keith taught himself HTML and CSS. He handled the design, publishing, artwork, writing, and audio production without a staff or outside agency.
Several of the categories that still define Party Favorz began during this period. Club Fusion, originally called BPM, focused on current Dance-Pop, House, EDM, and emerging dance club music. Circuit & Anthems delivered the larger-than-life diva vocals, tribal rhythms, and progressive productions associated with the gay circuit scene.
Funky House brought together uplifting Disco House, filtered grooves, soulful vocals, and feel-good club tracks, while Peak Hour centered on darker, harder-edged Tech House, Techno, and late-night dance club music.
The Diva Hall of Fame also launched in 2008 after tribute sets devoted to artists such as Sarah McLachlan gained an enthusiastic response. The series later expanded to honor singers whose catalogs, remixes, and performances made a lasting impact on the dancefloor.
The Gay Anthems Legacy
Gay Pride Anthems grew from a special fundraiser created in 2009 and became a formal Party Favorz category in 2012. The series was designed to celebrate the songs that shaped LGBTQ nightlife, Pride events, and queer culture.
In 2016, Party Favorz launched Gay Anthems for a New Generation, bringing modern remixes and updated productions to younger listeners while preserving the spirit of the originals.
By 2017, the focus had been tightened to keep the series centered on queer liberation, resilience, community, and joy. It has since become one of the most successful and recognizable traditions in the Party Favorz catalog.
Signature Series & Sub-Genres
Party Favorz has always moved freely between current dance music and the classics that influenced it. Its core contemporary channels include Club Fusion, Circuit & Anthems, Funky House, Peak Hour, and Chill Out.
Chill Out offers a change of pace through laid-back electronic music, atmospheric House, downtempo grooves, and relaxed remixes designed for quieter moments, late nights, and winding down without leaving dance music behind.
The Dance Classics archive spans Classic Disco, 80s Dance, 90s House Music Classics, 90s Eurodance, Trance Classics, and 2000s Dance Classics.
Within that collection, Throwback Dance Party reimagines familiar Disco, Funk, 80s favorites, 90s Hip Hop and House, and early-millennium club classics through mashups, bootlegs, and modern remixes.
BackSpin revisits the Electro House classics and crossover dance hits that powered the 2000s and early 2010s, capturing the era when big-room productions, commercial club anthems, and harder-edged dance music regularly crossed into the mainstream.
Other signature collections include Gay Pride Anthems, the Diva Hall of Fame, Legacy Dance Tribute, and the annual Top Dance Songs of the Year.
The Top Dance Songs of the Year series documents the biggest dancefloor hits from 1996 through today. These editions bring together major commercial releases, underground favorites, breakout artists, and remixes that helped define each year.
Legacy Dance Tribute honors artists, producers, remixers, and DJs whose work made a lasting contribution to dance music. Together, these collections preserve the defining sounds of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s while connecting them to the dance club music driving each new generation.
Curation & Production Style
Keith reviews hundreds of promos, new releases, remixes, reworks, and older tracks each week while assembling every episode. Songs are selected according to quality, compatibility, energy, and how they contribute to the overall direction of the set.
The mixes are built around an energy arc rather than a random collection of songs. Harmonic transitions, creative edits, a cappella bridges, remastered classics, and careful sequencing help each episode flow as one continuous experience.
Keith also creates the cover artwork, writes the accompanying posts, manages the website, and maintains the podcast feeds and distribution channels. Party Favorz remains a fully independent production shaped by one person from beginning to end.
The WordPress Transition: 2012–Present
In 2012, Party Favorz migrated from Blogger to WordPress. The move provided greater control over the growing archive and made it easier to organize hundreds of episodes across multiple categories.
Keith adopted the Customizr Pro theme and spent the following years extensively modifying its appearance, structure, and performance. In less technical terms, he “coded the shit out of it.”
The website became more than a place to publish new mixes. It evolved into a searchable dance music library where listeners could browse releases by genre, decade, series, or artist.
Today, PartyFavorz.com houses more than 1,200 episodes and remains the most complete way to experience the full catalog.
Live Roots & Evolution
Party Favorz was born from Keith’s years behind the decks, including appearances at local clubs, warehouse events, private gatherings, and events such as First Splash at South Padre Island in 2001.
Over time, the focus shifted away from live DJing and toward studio production. That transition allowed Keith to devote more time to preserving older music, documenting dance trends, and creating mixes for a worldwide audience.
The format may have changed, but the purpose remained the same: create a soundtrack that keeps people moving.
Party Favorz Today
Since its official launch in 2007, Party Favorz™ has documented the evolution of dance music across multiple generations. Its roots reach back even further to the custom mix CDs created in South Texas in 1999.
From those early after-hours parties to a digital archive spanning more than 1,200 episodes, Party Favorz has remained independent, inclusive, and committed to the dancefloor.
The technology has changed. Music discovery has changed. The way people listen has changed.
The mission has not.
Party Favorz continues to connect the underground with the mainstream, preserve the music that shaped previous generations, and spotlight the songs driving dance club music forward today.
