The Winter Edition 2018 pt.2 is ON FIRE! That’s about all the excitement I can muster up at the moment. This flu-crap has really kicked my ass. I expect to be taking next week (possibly two) off to get myself caught up.

From session work with some of the most iconic artists and labels (Cerrone, Bette Midler, Martha Wash, Salsoul Records, Artista, and Warner Brothers) in the ’70s, ’80s, and 90’s to her solo work Miss Jocelyn Brown has been a force within the music industry for over 50 years now. Many may recognize the sampling of her vocals (which even I just now found out about) in the massive early 90s hit by Snap! called “The Power.” That sample was taken by her late 80’s number one club hit “Love’s Gonna Get You” which not unlike Loleatta Holloway’s “Love Sensation” has been sampled a multitude of times. That song was also the basis for the early ’90s #1 club hit “I’m Gonna Get You” by Bizzare inc. featuring Angie Brown.

From Disco and House Music to Soulful and NRG Miss Brown is well represented in this 2+ hour tribute set. I would love to do a more fitting tribute but I’ve been down with the flu for a week now and no signs of it abating. All I want to do is just sleep. Thankfully this set was finished last week along with the upcoming Winter Edition pt. 2 on Sunday when I wasn’t feeling so bad.

For now, please give a standing ovation to the one and only Miss Jocelyn Brown!
