Emergency News You Need To Know

Good Morning, Everyone!

I’m here with some semi-promising news about the future of this podcast while asking for your patience.

Some of you may have read about my current situation—a massive infection in my shin that landed me in the hospital for over a week. I was put on an IV drip with two different antibiotics running through my system simultaneously as they waited for lab results to determine which one would effectively treat the infection. Fortunately, my primary care physician (PCP) had already identified the right antibiotic two weeks prior (because, let’s be real, no one in the same medical system actually talks to each other). So, I had a bit of a jump-start on treatment.

Flooding my system with antibiotics has taken a toll on my immune system, completely wrecking my gut health—which, in turn, affects how you have bowel movements. It’s a nasty and destructive process, especially when doctors are essentially throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks, all while I’m being pumped full of painkillers. I won’t go into the graphic details; I’ll let y’all use your imagination.

Since there isn’t a fully functioning wound care facility in my immediate area, I’m driving to a neighboring town weekly for treatment. They’re using a medical-grade honey with fast-healing properties, which plays a crucial role in both the removal of dead tissue and the healing process afterward. Before it can fully aid in healing, the dead tissue in my leg needs to be softened and scraped out under heavy sedation. This process, known as debridement, should have been done while I was hospitalized, but for some unknown reason, it wasn’t. Now, it’s going to take a couple of weeks to remove all the dead skin before they can begin treating the healthy tissue underneath and promote new growth. In total, this recovery process is expected to take about 12 weeks.

Right now, there’s still significant swelling in my leg, making it difficult to walk. I’m currently using a wheelchair, which is taking some getting used to, but I seem to be managing. My vascular doctor placed a stent in my groin to improve blood flow to the wound, though the results so far have been mixed. The good news is that the infection is gone—the bacteria has been killed and is no longer spreading.

Over the next 12 weeks, I’ll have multiple doctor’s appointments each week, along with in-home nursing visits to change the wound dressings between clinic visits. I’ll also be undergoing in-home physical therapy to strengthen my weakened muscles so I can walk again. It’s a long road ahead, and I couldn’t do it without the love and support of my husband, Rick—someone I’ve talked about extensively over the years since the beginning of this podcast.

During this time, I’ll do my best to keep up with posts, but the frequency may not be what you’re used to. Back in January, I already dropped $500 for DJ services through the year that provide fresh new mixes every week, helping offset some of the multiple monthly costs that keep Party Favorz running. I hope everyone can be patient with me during this hectic period, as I’m doing my best to continue delivering the dance music mixes that fuel your own busy lives.

If that’s an issue for you, and you don’t have access to your donation account to manage your subscription, please don’t hesitate to reach out through the contact section of this website. No judgment—just let me know, and I’ll process a no-questions-asked cancellation.

Over the years, I’ve always been upfront and transparent with my followers, and this time is no different. I just want you to know where things stand. If my release schedule gets a little spotty, now you know why. I just ask that you stick this out with me. And if, for any reason, I reach a point where I can’t continue, I’ll let everyone know—it will be time to shut things down.

Party Favorz is my lifeblood—it gives me purpose. That’s why I work so hard to bring you the latest in Dance Club music while dropping those classic bombs from years past. In fact, I’ve already started compiling the next two-volume set in the BackSpin series, covering the last decade of the millennium before moving into the next.

This is our 18th year, and I hope everyone sticks with me so we can see this journey through to the very end.

Until the next time… ENJOY!
