Party Favorz has been in the midst of a nightmare replacing a bevy of podcast episodes that mysteriously disappeared. I narrowed it down to Siteground who recently upgraded their servers and moved everybody over. Of course they say it wasn’t them but the timing and the fact that the files missing were too specific suggest otherwise.
For instance, all the Spring Edition, Year In Dance, and Legacy episodes disappeared. Anything with the word Pride in it also disappeared. Of course there were a few miscellaneous episodes as well but this suggests that the database specifically omitted certain keywords during the transfer. There’s not other possible explanation. I’ve since taken the time to replace each and every episode since everything still resided on Podbean’s servers.
I’m currently in the process of switching site builders to one put out by my theme and updating outdated information on the support page. Actually, those are all done but I did discover a bug that the developer is looking at fixing.
SUPPORT QUESTIONS
Speaking of support, it appears some of you may be having issues with the recent Apple operating system upgrade and downloading, streaming tracks. Remember, Apple got rid of iTunes (except for Windows PCs) and now uses three separate apps to take the load off of iTunes. Apple Music (is like Spotify) is their streaming service, Apple Podcasts (strictly for podcasts like Party Favorz), and Apple TV. This actually makes sense because iTunes was becoming to bloated and confusing to navigate.
While Party Favorz works just fine on iTunes for Windows users — I want everyone that uses Mac or iPhones to focus on the Apple Podcast app. I haven’t been able to test it out but it would stand to reason you cannot playback our episodes in Apple Music but should be able to on Apple Podcasts. If it’s not showing up in their listing, you can manually add our feed https://partyfavorz.com/feed/podcast
I’m opening up to include remote support for troubleshooting on people’s computers if anyone is interested. It will involve downloading Team Viewer for Mac but you don’t have to install it rather run it as a onetime operation. I can then call you and be on the phone to troubleshoot your issues, which will allow me to test out my theory. If you’re interested, just reach out to me via the Contact section of this site and give me a day and time to work with you. I already do this for my mom in Dallas and her friends so it’s safe. The caveat is that I can only do this in North America (Canada, United States, and Mexico) with English speakers only. This would not only help me but help you and anyone else experiencing the same issues.
DONATIONS
While I’ll be renewing my host and other service this weekend, we’re still $75 short of our $500 goal. I know things are looking pretty grim for a lot of you but think of the entertainment value you’ll be getting is you find yourself in a quarantine situation. I want to give a BIG shout out to Paul S., Ignacio G., and Jeffrey M. or their generous donations. Feel free to help me get over the top if you can help out by donating below.
As a friendly reminder, the current rate of $2.99 a month will be increasing to $3.49 a month after. I don’t anticipate any further increases through the end of the year — likely longer.
I’ve got a lot on tap that will start rolling out next week. Until then…ENJOY!
