The hardest part involved in making these sets is tracking down the songs; especially songs whose title is flip-opposite of what you would expect. As a result, once you narrow down the genres where you know they’re likely to show up at, you listen …and listen …and listen until you strike gold and then pick up where you left off.
In fact, that process takes hours to pour through all the potential songs that ultimately make up the Trash Disco series. Fortunately, I am a die-hard disco fanatic who is very studied in the genre and can sniff out the beat in a new recording 30 years after it was originally released, in most cases. Some sampled tunes these days are lifted from really rare releases making it damn near impossible to identify unless I stumble across the original and have an “a-ha” moment (which has happened).
With the exception of the originally titled re-works in the tracklist, here’s what else is buried between the grooves should your inquiring mind want to know:
- D-I-S-C-O, Funk, and Soul …it’s all represented and I got one more of these heading your way tomorrow just in time to start your Memorial Day weekend.
