ATLANTA PRIDE 2018 and Other News…

The 2018 annual Atlanta Pride festival kicked off on Friday and ends today with the massive parade in mid-town Piedmont Park. I know this area very well because Rick and I lived there for over 10 years. Over the years, I’ve attended many Pride celebrations in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, TX. I’ve been to Atlanta Pride multiple times and even worked the AT&T booth at my first. With an attendance of well over 300,000 participants, it’s one of the largest in the southeast.

This year made history with the candidacy of Stacey Abrams who spoke to the significance of inclusion, discrimination, as well as participation in the American dream. Stacey Abrams’ historic run could very well make her the first black female governor of any US state in history. She’s smart as a whip, thoughtful, and has a multitude of well-thought-out platforms that include education, gun control, healthcare, voter rights, and criminal justice reform to name a few.

It is my hope and dream that all of you folks sitting on the sidelines that are registered to vote will participate in the process. With the way things are rapidly changing in this country, your way of life depends on it. I am not trying to be an alarmist, but I follow politics very closely and we are nearing a very real possibility of civil war in this country. Early voting starts on October 15th in Fulton county but varies depending on which county you live in. You can find out about locations and dates by going to the Elections Division of Georgia and clicking on the drop-down menu to find your country information.

In other news

Assuming I can keep my shit together, I’ve mapped out what I want to achieve through the end of the year with Party Favorz. I’m in my 11th year (yay for me) with this site and feel I have pretty much achieved all that I can. That being said, I still have many more podcasts to share with my fabulous followers.

There are likely a few more Diva Hall of Fame entries, one of which is by special request from one of our most devoted and helpful followers, while the other two involve divas that just can’t stop. One of them has held out the release of new material and I expect to be creating the ultimate collection of new and old remixes over a series of podcasts for her. Because of the uncertainty of new material from her, I may hold the site over for a couple of months in 2019. I’ll play it by ear.

As for requests, I’m sorry but I really cannot take anymore as I’ve mapped everything out in advance. I finished the artwork for the 2018 Halloween Edition in Circuit Tribal House and HW18 for EDM Dance Club. I also finished compiling and tagging all the tracks to be included, which took the entirety of my day yesterday but I am ready to get to mixing. Expect new material between now and the end of the month.

RSS Feeds

I’ve had multiple requests for older material to be included in Apple Music, so I need to explain how that works. Apple Music and Google Podcasts allow up to a maximum of 300 episodes per feed. All other platforms limit it to 20. The reason they do that is that the larger the RSS feed is, the longer it takes to load. It weighs down the service making for a bad user experience. For each new episode I post, the one at the bottom of the 300 is dropped.

Another trick that most folks aren’t aware of is that these services delete the podcast after you’ve listened to it automatically. Here’s a link to an old version of iTunes for desktop to prevent deletion of your podcast files. However, since there have been so many iterations of iTunes since I posted it, it’s likely to be outdated. I am not an “i” person and don’t own any of their devices, so I can’t be much help in that department. I can’t find anything about this since 2016 on the internet, so you may want to contact iTunes support.

Your best bet is to download the episodes that you can’t live without from the website (which is secure) because you have access to over 700+ episodes. You can download it to your preferred device and then store them on a local portable device (I use the 2tb WP Passport) or to your cloud account. This way, you’ve got them forever and don’t have to worry about Apple or any other service deleting it.

I hope my fellow Georgians have a fabulous Pride day. Just know that I’m here to answer any questions you may have. I’ll be back this next week with new material. Until then…ENJOY!
