Party Favorz sailed past Madonna’s birthday month this year. Between doctor appointments, illness, and the work of finding a new home 1,200 miles away, I haven’t had much room to breathe. We’re moving back to South Texas in November, and there’s a personal wrinkle, too: a best friend still won’t speak to me because I never told him I was leaving 25 years ago. Now I’m heading home. Honestly, can you blame him?
Even with all that going on, the music hasn’t stopped. I’ve built a massive folder of Madonna bootleg remixes and am still hunting for the right tracks to finish the next Ultimate Bootleg Collection. I’m hoping to have it ready very soon.
The Madonna collections get a fresh start
In the meantime, I’ve split the original, oversized Ultimate Bootleg Collection into shorter volumes that are easier to put on and enjoy. The upcoming release will pick up at Volume 4 and may extend to Volume 5.
I’ve also rebuilt The Ultimate Dance Collection. Its original second volume ran more than four hours and covered two distinct periods, so I separated them. Volume 2 focuses on Madonna’s house music years, with remixes from the likes of Shep Pettibone and Junior Vasquez. Volume 3 moves into progressive house and trance, including the Victor Calderone and Peter Rauhofer era.
That second stretch took more work than I expected. I tried mixing in different selections from the period, but the set wasn’t capturing the way I remember those years. The Calderone and Rauhofer remixes, along with other club favorites, are a big part of that memory. Once I returned to them, I found a new way through the music, from the opening track to the finish. It took a while, but I’m happy with where it landed.
Party Favorz is coming to YouTube
The Party Favorz YouTube channel is finally going live, starting with four major categories. I’ll open the rest over the next few days as YouTube finishes processing them. I made an attempt at this about ten years ago, so I’m excited to give it another shot. Subscribe if you’d like to follow along, and let me know what you think of the sets.
