First and foremost, I want to apologize for my previous statement indicating that anyone voting for a candidate (in this case Obama) without fully understanding what they stand for, is stupid. I don’t really believe that.
Those that know me, understand I am passionate about my politics and can get carried away sometimes. There is no mistake about Barak’s passion and ability to motivate and instill hope in people. Without a doubt, I believe you can attribute the overwhelming turnout among voters to his presence in the race.
As I mentioned before, the first time I saw him was on C-SPAN shortly after he became the junior Senator from Illinois. I was immediately drawn to him and was very impressed by his thoughtfulness. What I have been attempting to do is draw a distinction between his candidacy and Clinton’s. Frankly, there are only minor differences between the two’s positions. Then I try to look at the challenges that the next administration will face and truly believe that Hillary has the most experience and a better understanding as to what that entails.
Ultimately, if Obama wins the Democratic nomination, I will throw my entire support behind him. I am sick and tired of the greed and corruption of the current administration. One can only hope that the next President will maintain a transparent government as promised, and do more for the people, the economy, health care, the environment, and of course national security, rather than their friends in high places.
As someone whose work brought them close to the victims of Katrina, it’s appalling that many still live in FEMA trailers on the lot where their house used to be; all the while federal spending (particularly on useless “earmarks” that never receive an up or down vote) spirals out of control. This is not the “compassionate” government that was promised back in 2000. For now, I’ll just let the primaries play out and hold off on any more political comments (as best I can) until the convention in August.
That being said, welcome to the first edition of Party Favorz 2008: Electro-Funk Edition. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive my funk promo for February but have a slew of hot new electro tunes. So, I decided to go back and put together a double mix of the hottest tunes on BPM satellite based on their most recent chart. While the majority of these songs have appeared on compilations as far back as September, they are only now receiving the attention they deserve on radio.
The songs you’ll find on here that I never used, are trance. While I don’t necessarily dislike trance, it’s not my favorite genre. The handful of trance songs that appear on this mix are hot at the moment. The problem I have with them is that they don’t really do the original song any justice. Most notably Tiesto’s work has been seriously lacking as of late. His mixes tend to drag along and lack the inspiration he’s been known for in the past. In fact, I haven’t heard anything as glorious as the work he did on Delirium’s “Silence” with Sara McLachlan or even The Roc Project’s “Never (Past Tense)”.
Granted, he’s obviously trying to modernize his sound to fit in with the whole electro scene but has yet to hit his stride. His mixes of Justin Timberlake and Britney were just so-so. Let’s hope Seal’s latest “The Right Life” receives more justice.
So as to not let everyone down, I’ll be backing this mix up with another offering within a couple of hours. Yeah, It’s been a busy week, but I didn’t rest on my laurels. One other thing, if you’ve had difficulty accessing this site, blame it on Flickr. They’ve been doing some serious upgrades to their site which not only has taken longer than they expected but has caused serious headaches for anyone with the slideshow on their blog. Patience is a virtue, just not one of mine. For now…Enjoy!
Due to the original structure of this post, the two separate sets have now been combined into one and remastered based on the techniques used in current podcasts.
