Robin Rihanna Fenty is a Barbadian-born singer, songwriter, and actress who was signed to Def Jam Recordings by Jay Z. How she was able to secure an audition for him are glossed over on her Wiki page (since that just doesn’t happen) but she the single best decision Jay Z made while heading the label.
With the release of her first two albums (‘Music of the Sun’ and ‘A Girl Like Me’) her star was on the rise with popular hits like ‘Pon de Replay’ and ‘SOS’.
By the time her third album ‘Girl Gone Bad’ was released, she had not only taken creative control of her music but thrust herself into the pop stratosphere as a sex symbol with the release of the first single ‘Umbrella’ (a song notoriously passed over by Mary J. Blige and Britney Spears depending on what story you believe).
Since then, Rihanna has sold over 230 million albums worldwide making her one of the best-selling artists of all time.
