Party Favorz is dropping the next installment of Funky House Sessions a day early to clear my schedule for the coming week. This set was completed in one take, and after listening to it sporadically over the past week, I can honestly say it’s flawless. Even the tricky transitions were figured out on the fly and seamlessly flowed from one track to the next.
This set leans heavily on the Disco House side, so put on your dancing shoes because it’s time to get down!
As I mentioned in my last post, I went to Urgent Care—only to be turned away because my situation required a doctor, and all they had was a single PA (Physician Assistant) on staff. So, I went to the ER the next day, fully expecting to wait a couple of hours.
I have two OxyContin pills prescribed so I can lay still without pain for the two-hour MRIs my doctor ordered. Why? Because I need an official diagnosis to correct the wrong diagnosis that every major hospital has run with since 1996. It took eight months just to get in for that initial visit, then another 30 days for the doctor to perform some tests. After that, I was supposed to have MRIs with and without contrast of my lumbar and brain so the neurologist can provide me with an official diagnosis.
Enter Humana, my insurer. They approved, rescinded, re-approved, and rescinded again—dragging this process out for months, ultimately forcing me to drop them for a new insurer in 2025. And now? I can’t even get in to see the neurologist until the end of May. ARE. YOU. FUCKING. KIDDING. ME?
Meanwhile, I now have an unrelated infection that was initially thought to be staph. It has left a hole larger than a quarter in my leg, surrounded by a growing infection that the wound specialist no longer believes is staph but a bacterial infection.
So, back to the ER I went, where I sat for five hours, watching patients who arrived after me get treated and discharged—until the entire waiting room had turned over three times. When I asked about the delay, I was told they had no doctors on staff—only Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). My condition required an actual doctor.
At that point, I ripped the port-a-cath out of my arm, threw it in the trash, and walked out. I did my best to keep my cool—I wasn’t about to be that guy (you know, Kevin), but this was absolutely ridiculous.
Mind you, four years ago, I sat in this same ER for 24 hours with a burst appendix while their sole doctor performed elective surgeries. In the meantime, they pumped me full of pain meds and ran unnecessary tests just to run up the insurance bill. Don’t even get me started.
How the fuck do you run an emergency room without a single doctor on staff?
I checked their website, and it claimed wait times were under two hours. Bullshit. Meanwhile, we have two major hospital chains in this area, so I looked up Piedmont’s ERs. They publicly list their current wait times, which averaged 20 minutes, with some locations reaching an hour—way more reasonable and what I had come to expect living in Atlanta.
So, Rick and I are heading down to one of their satellite campuses early tomorrow—which brings me back to why this Funky House Sessions set is dropping early.
I fully expect to be hospitalized tomorrow. For how long? No idea. So, I’m getting this set out now to avoid interrupting the release schedule. That said, I wouldn’t expect anything new next week. Once I’m back in the saddle, I’ll start working on some BackSpins covering the first ten years of the Millennium.
Until the next time…ENJOY!
