Classic Circuit Anthems: Ooh La La
Turn it up. Ooh La La opens a four-set Party Favorz collection celebrating the classic circuit anthems that filled dance floors with towering vocals, pounding beats, and enough drama to carry a crowd through the night.
From the late 1990s into the 2000s, a circuit remix could take its time getting where it wanted to go. DJs such as Tony Moran and Junior Vasquez helped shape that big room sound. The long builds and extended breaks gave dancers a chance to catch their breath—and wonder when the beat would come roaring back.
The Art of the Drop
One track that captures that feeling for me is Hex Hector’s remix of Jennifer Lopez’s “Waiting for Tonight”. It builds, reaches a peak, pulls back, and makes you wait for the next release. On a crowded dance floor, that pause felt endless in the best possible way. When the music surged again, everybody went with it. It was pure hot sex on the dance floor.
That tension runs through Ooh La La and the sets that follow. These classic circuit anthems were made for hands in the air, voices raised, and one more chorus when you thought the night couldn’t get any bigger.
A Tribute to the DJs Behind the Sound
Across this four-set series, Party Favorz celebrates the work of Hex Hector, Thunderpuss, Jonathan Peters, Victor Calderone, Peter Rauhofer, and other DJs who gave these songs their dance floor lives. There’s plenty more music from this era to remember, but these mixes bring together some of the tracks that still hit me hardest.
Ooh La La is where the ride begins. Whether you danced to these anthems when they first came out or you’re hearing them now, make some room and let the drama take over.
Until the next time…ENJOY!
