Katy Perry [2013] | The Diva Series

Largely dismissed as a one-off with her minor hit “Ur So Gay” which raised the ire of the LGBT community, Katy Perry came back swinging hard with “I Kissed a Girl” a song that struck a nerve with right-wing social conservatives and blew up massively at radio and in the clubs. There’s nothing like pissing off large swaths of the public that brings the kind of attention most new artists can only dream of.

There was something about Katy Perry who had previously been writing songs for other pop artists that just sparkles.  Her debut album set off other top ten hits like “Hot n Cold” and “Waking Up in Vegas,” setting the stage for what was to come.

By the time her follow-up album “Teenage Dream” came out, Katy Perry was already a household name which only became further ingrained into the public conscience with no less the five #1 hits beating out Michael Jackson’s previously held record.  At this point, it was clear that Katy Perry was a global star.

With a great sense of humor and the ability to make fun of herself all the while writing catchy pop songs that struck at the core of her teenage fans, Katy Perry has become an epic player in the industry. As one of the new crop of radio darlings, it’s only fitting that she be inducted into the Party Favorz Diva Hall of Fame. We welcome our newest diva and look forward to more fun and frills from her soon enough. Welcome aboard, your star has landed!

Until the next time…ENJOY!

Pink | The Diva Series

Pink is no stranger to the Diva Hall of Fame since she’s already been inducted once before. I was never all that happy with the original set and since her greatest hits and recent album dropped, I decided it was time to go back and honor her with a set more fitting of her status.

Pink is like a tootsie pop; hard on the outside and soft on the inside. Quite possibly the most talented singer and performer on the radio, she’s managed to navigate the ups and downs of stardom and steer the tough chick image she often portrays into a worldwide success. In 2009, she ranked #27 in highest-grossing tours beating out Beyonce that same year.

Aside from an amazing voice and writing catchy pop songs, there is no doubt her success comes from hard work and determination. She epitomizes style, grace, and inspiration. For this and everything she is, it is my greatest pleasure to honor Pink once again by inducting her into the Diva Hall of Fame.

Until the next time…ENJOY!
