Sorry for the late post. I was completely spent last night and finally crashed sometime after midnight. But before that happened, Barack Obama’s historic victory—and especially his acceptance speech in Chicago—absolutely broke me.
I’m not someone who cries easily. Sad movies rarely get to me, and I’ve never been the type to join a fan club or lose myself in celebrity worship. Maybe it was the Prednisone, the lack of sleep, or the emotional weight of the entire night, but when Obama took the stage, I fell apart and sobbed like a baby. Watching a Black man stand before the country as its president-elect felt bigger than politics. It felt like history unfolding in real time—and for once, it felt hopeful.
That sense of joy, relief, pride, and possibility is exactly what this funky house mix is about. This is music for celebrating, dancing, and letting everything out after a long and exhausting campaign. It’s soulful, uplifting, unapologetically funky, and made for a victory party worthy of the moment.
